38' Freeman offshore fishing

Born and raised in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Captain Calvin Springs Jr. has spent his life on the water. His passion for fishing began at an early age, learning alongside his father, grandfather, and uncles in the creeks of Murrells Inlet. Before long, those family trips expanded offshore aboard his grandfather’s 61-foot Spencer sportfishing yacht, Anticipation, where his love for offshore fishing and the sportfishing lifestyle truly took root.

As his experience grew, Calvin turned his lifelong passion into a career. At 21, he joined Carolina Hook & Fly as a first mate, where he sharpened his skills and developed a passion for competitive tournament fishing. His dedication and experience eventually led him to earn his U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s License, allowing him to captain a 33-foot Onslow Bay and guide anglers on offshore adventures.

After relocating to Charleston, South Carolina, Calvin took a brief break from charter fishing but remained deeply involved in the tournament fishing scene. He started fishing again alongside his friends aboard a 47-foot Freeman, later serving as captain and mate on the team’s 42-foot Freeman PoleDancer charter operation. Those experiences further refined his knowledge of offshore fishing and solidified his reputation as a skilled captain.

Today, Captain Calvin proudly captains and manages both the 28-foot Lil' Goat Loco and the 38-foot Goat Loco Freeman vessels for Goat Loco.
